About OKRWG Satellite Chapters
OKRWG has grown to include members from all across Oklahoma, the United States, and the World. OKRWG Satellite Chapters were introduced so that those too far from Oklahoma City can get a little bit of an in person experience.

Satellite Chapters meet to view the monthly OKRWG workshops together at a location put together by a group of organizers approved by the OKRWG Board of Directors.

OKRWG SATELLITE CHAPTER ORGANIZER RULES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
-
Selecting a free location, like your local library, and reserving that location for OKRWG members in your area to meet together to watch the meeting via Zoom. The location needs to have A/V capabilities.

Checking in with OKRWG President before each meeting to make sure any new members from your area have been added to your area's member list.

Setting up for the meeting at your selected location with a computer that can hook to the location's A/V to broadcast the meeting via Zoom over a TV or projector system so it can be viewed and heard by everyone who attends at your location.

Organizing a monthly coffee social at a local coffee shop where you all can meet up in a casual setting to get to know each other better.

Keep your area members informed of OKRWG programs, upcoming events, and making sure they are all receiving their newsletter and OKRWG emails.

Be the liaison between your area members and the OKRWG Board of Directors.

All OKRWG events must be held in a public venue. No private residences.

No events outside established OKRWG events without OKRWG President approval.

No independent satellite newsletters. All news correspondence should be sent to our OKRWG Heartbeat Editor to be shared with the group.

No exclusive to a single satellite events. All events must be open to all OKRWG members.
OKRWG BY-LAWS: ARTICLE VIII: SATELLITE CHAPTER STANDING RULES
The board of directors shall establish various standing rules regarding operational details of OKRWG Satellite Chapters, including, but not limited to: their virtual attendance at the regularly scheduled meetings and their non-independent status.

Non-Independent Status: Satellite Chapters are groups of OKRWG members outside of the Oklahoma City area who gather together to view virtual broadcasts of OKRWG meetings together. As such, they are not independent entities and do not have their own officer group, do not have the power to hold their own business meetings, and do not have the power to collect any monies for any reason that is not sanctioned directly by the OKRWG Board of Directors.

Organizers: OKRWG Satellite Chapters are led by organizers and answer directly to the OKRWG Board of Directors. As with a committee chair, they can be released from duty and replaced by the board at any time without cause. These are appointed positions.

Governance: OKRWG Satellite Chapters must abide by all OKRWG bylaws and the OKRWG mission.

Non-Compete Clause: OKRWG Satellite organizers cannot form a competing romance writer organization while members of OKRWG or within a year after the end of their OKRWG membership.
