2024 Writer Retreat
August 2-5, 2024 

A writer retreat for OKRWG members to come together to get to know each other a little better in a more casual setting while also enjoying writing exercises, writing workshops, writing games, and actual writing time.

Retreat Ticket Prices:

Option 1: OVERNIGHT PASS split pay option:

$85 is due by March 31st to hold your spot and is nonrefundable, the other $90 is due July 1st

Option 2: DAY ONLY PASS split pay:

$65 IS DUE BY March 31st to hold your spot and is nonrefundable, the other $60 is due July 1st

Option 3: OVERNIGHT PAID IN FULL PASS:

$175 paid before March 31st ($85 of which is nonrefundable, other $90 is refundable until July 1st)

Option 4: DAY ONLY PAID IN FULL PASS:

$125 paid before March 31st ($65 of which is nonrefundable, other $60 refundable until July 1st)

Option 5: SINGLE DAY PASS - SATURDAY ONLY

$75 paid before July 1st ($15 is nonrefundable to cover admin costs & fees)

Option 6: SINGLE DAY PASS - SUNDAY ONLY

$75 paid before July 1st ($15 is nonrefundable to cover admin costs & fees)

Option 7: HEART AWARDS GALA EVENT TICKET

(Only for Heart Finalists who DO NOT REGISTER TO ATTEND THE RETREAT or Heart Finalist Guest)

Heart Finalist are only allowed 1 guest each. Nonrefundable after July 1st)

This schedule will be filled out more completely as the retreat gets closer.

*I will have gluten free and vegan options to the best of my ability including GF bread, vegan butter, vegan salad dressing, etc)

FRIDAY

4pm ~ Arrival

6pm ~ Dinner: Baked Potato Bar, salad 

SATURDAY

9am ~ Breakfast: oatmeal, boiled eggs, pastries, bacon, sausage, fruit, coffee, tea, juice

10am ~ Writing Exercise: 

                  Exercise 1: Photo Writing Prompt: Intimacy

                  Exercise 2: Photo Writing Prompt : Dialogue

                  Exercise 3: Sene Scenarios

11:15am ~ Writing Game:

                  Game 1: Guess that Book

                  Game 2: Match the Cover

12pm ~ Lunch: Sandwiches/Salad Bar, veggies, hummus, meat, cheese, chips, fruit, tea, water

1pm ~ Workshops:

                     #1 Writing 101 (How to Get Started) with Sabrina & Jennifer

                     #2: Does the Carpet Match the Drapes: Cover Edition (Advanced Authors) with Sarah & Johnetta

2-6pm ~ Writing Time

4-7pm ~ Set up for Heart Awards

7pm ~ Heart Awards Gala (will be broadcast virtually via Facebook Live)
**This is an award's ceremony, please dress in Sunday best/professional/semi-formal/garden party attire.

            Dinner: Taco Bar with flour and corn tortillas, bean & meat options, veggies, chips, queso, salsa

8:30pm ~ Game Night: Romance vs. The World

SUNDAY

9am ~ Breakfast: Oatmeal, Yogurt, fruit, granola, pastries, bacon, sausage, coffee, tea, juice

10am ~ Writing Exercise: Writing Sprints

11am ~ Writing Game:

                 Game 1: 1st Line Game

                 Game 2: Trope & Genre Bingo

12pm ~ Lunch: Sandwich/Salad Bar, veggies, hummus, chips, fruit, tea, water (leftovers will also be available)

1pm ~ Workshop:

                    #1 Beginner Round Table (Bring Your Questions) Moderators: Jennifer & Johnetta

                    #2 Advanced Round Table (Bring Your Questions) Moderators: Sabrina & Sarah

2-5pm ~ Writing Time

5-6pm ~ Workshop: Canva 101 ~ Let's Get Graphic with Sarah & Sabrina

6pm ~ Dinner: Pasta, salad, garlic bread & Use up groceries left from previous days dinners & lunches 

7pm ~ Pictionary

MONDAY

8:30am ~Breakfast: Use up groceries left over from previous days breakfasts

9am ~ Cleanup

10am ~ Check out
